Hawai`i Appleseed Center for Law and Economic Justice works to ensure federal and state laws that protect an individual’s ability to live in safe and accessible housing are enforced. Hawai`i Appleseed also seeks to be a policy resource for community groups, administrative agencies, governmental entities, and other non-profit organizations that want to understand how housing laws and policies can be used to improve the state of public housing projects in Hawai`i.
Hawai`i Appleseed has been involved in advocacy for individuals living in the State's Housing Projects to improving housing conditions and to increase utility allowances.
We have also produced a policy brief entitled "Addressing Homelessness: New Approaches to Affordable Housing in Hawai`i," detailing the growing homelessness issue in the state and providing cheap alternatives for affordable housing.
