Breakfast with either Judy Waxman or Jim Weill

On Friday, November 8th from 8:00 am to 9:30 am, we will be sponsored individual breakfasts with each our national honorees at the Plaza Club.

Judy Waxman

Judy Waxman is the Vice President of Health and Reproductive Rights at the National Women's Law Center where she continues her lifelong work improving access to affordable and quality health care for low income people, as well as protecting and improving reproductive choices for women. She spoke about the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and the opportunities it will provide us in Hawaii, especially women. She also discussed current challenges and opportunities relating to reproductive rights. Click here to read more about Ms. Waxman.

Jim Weill

artists for appleseed honoree Jim WeillJim Weill is the President of the Food Research and Action Center (FRAC), where he leads that key organization's national anti-hunger and anti-poverty advocacy, organizing and research efforts. FRAC plays an essential role in strengthening and protecting food stamps, school breakfast and lunch, WIC, afterschool food and other nutrition programs, as well as income support programs like the Child Tax Credit. Previously he led policy efforts at the Children's Defense Fund and was director of litigation at the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago. He discussed nutrition program, wage, tax and other public policy strategies at both the federal and state levels to reduce hunger, poverty and inequality. Click here to read more about Mr. Weill.
